and... Sergio Leone's The Man With No Name trilogy leads with 7 votes, George Romero's Dead franchise is close on its heels with 6 votes, and Carpenter's (Snake) Escapes are at a distant third with 2 votes. Man with No Name. A great Italian director starts out with a remake of a great Japanese film, then riffs on it brilliantly. It's incredible, an achievement in filmmaking and hermeneutics.

The deadline is up...
We started with 384 franchises battling it out in three sections - 128 duologies, 128 trilogies & 128 quadralogies and bigger franchises...and almost 4 and half months later...we have reached the climax... Ladies and Gentlemen...it gives me great pleasure in announcing the WINNER of the Comprehensive Movie Series/Franchise Tournament... By scoring a 10-7-2 win over George A. Romero's Dead franchise and John Carpenter's Escape from New York/ Escape from L.A. duology... All rise to applaud the Emperor of the Tournament... Sergio Leone's The Man With No Name Trilogy A Fistful Of Dollars For A Few Dollars More The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly Thanks to everyone who participated whole-heartedly in this tournament. We all made history guys. The Movie Series/Franchise Tournament has become the biggest tournament in the history of HDC. From the person who cast 1 vote, to the person who cast almost 200 votes...thank you to each and every voter. Until we meet again, with another tournament hopefully...adios! ******************************TOURNAMENT CLOSED******************************

Well done, ___V___!
An excellent tourney! I am a bit shocked that a western series can win in a horror forum, but that really speaks volumes to the power of the films. I'm really quite pleased, even though I voted for the Dead series. I love the Leone think I might have to go write a haunted spaghetti western now

It's cool how the remaining all three finalists were series that kept the same director throughout.

I voted for the Dead's and Snake earlier in this thread but now we are down to the nitty gritty.
Gotta go with Clint. As far as I'm concerned, he DEFINED the Western gunslinger (Sorry, John Wayne fans). |
