One of my new games has the paint peeling off the disc. Could that be caused from playing the game too much and leaving my system on all day?

Perhaps but either way it's not good for you to leave your system on that long. I mean I know they are designed to get many hours of gameplay but just letting them sit like that isn't good.. I keep mine in rest mode when I'm not using it that way it is off but if any updates or anything like that become available they will download automatically.

But back to Shenmue, I think a lot of the hype was the Japanese setting and graphics at the time. I don't think the games sold that well. It wasn't the best "game" if you are looking for pure gameplay. The arcade games in them are more fun than the actual Shenmue game. But I think for people that wanted to go or live in Japan, being able to walk around a small town and explore stuff made the game worthwhile. I remember fans being upset about not getting Part 2 on Dreamcast. I might end up getting the new collection on PS4. It will probably feel like a nostalgia trip. Finishing Part 2 will help me decide if I want to get Part 3. |

Are those anything like the Tenchu games? I used to have a friend that was really into those. I watched him play them but I never really found them very amusing. I mean I'm into slower-paced games because of my eyes but it just seems a little too slow-paced for me. It's weird because up until PS3, I loved the Metal Gear Solid games and those required a lot of stealth and sneaking as well.

Yakuza is kind of similar to games like Grand Theft Auto and Sleeping Dogs. You get to explore a whole city and fight street gangs and yakuza mobsters with martial arts and you can level up to increase your stats and abilities. You also get to shop at stores for supplies, eat at restaurants and food vendors and drink at bars to heal yourself, and play a lot of mini games like bowling, fishing, pool, darts, arcade games, casino games, and Japanese gambling hall games. You also have sexy nightlife stuff like strip clubs, Asian massage parlors, and Japanese hostess clubs. The one thing it doesn't have is driving around in vehicles, but you are exploring such a crowded district of Tokyo full of people walking the streets that driving around wouldn't make any sense. That's how the Yakuza games are, but I have never played a Shenmue game so I don't know if it's exactly the same. Probably not if it's rated T instead of M.

Without spoiling it, by the end of the game, you'll feel like you spent time almost living in a Japanese village. But it's not that difficult a task when the graphics are good and you walk around the village everyday. At least I felt that way at the end of the game and how they reinforced it with the ending.

You know, I'm starting to think maybe I was too impulsive about buying this new PS4. It really isn't as great as I thought it would be.
Hell I can't even do the things on this system that I could do on my old PS3 like download videos and free themes off the internet. Plus it sucks that the PS4 has no backwards capability for playing PS3 games. I feel like this new system basically took a step backwards in progress. I guess the only thing gamers today really care about is brand new graphics? Meh, I might take a long break from video games and maybe see about finishing all the episodes of that new reboot of Mystery Science Theater 3000 on Netflix.

It's not really part of Playstations model to support backwards compatability since last (ps3) gen.

My biggest problem with the PS4 isn't so much the backwards compatibility as much as it is the fact that it doesn't even have the same awesome features that the PS3 did. No free online gaming (not that I ever play games online anyways), no downloading MP4 and AVI videos or free custom-made themes off the internet, no PSOne classics from the Playstation Network Store, etc. I'm not even sure that this system allows you to play imported games from other countries like the PS3 did. I really liked the PS3 better. But I'm stuck with my PS4 so I might as well enjoy the games I have for it.
