1) The mod who decided that I acted in a 'questionable' manner, is FAR from an "idiot" 2) Are you suggesting that we need a ROGUE mod, who does NOT consult with the other mods, or consider the input of the other members of this forum before taking action, and acts SOLELY on his/her own, based on their own perceptions, wants, opinions, likes, dislikes, etcetera?...I have to strongly disagree with that...That's impossible here Quote:

Sure, if each individual member uses the function, the problem goes away for THEM...But, some of you may ask "What about visitors or new members to the site?...They can still see the bullshit"...True, but if Horror doesn't give a shit about the content or reputation of HIS site, then why the hell should WE?...Do some of you feel 'dirty' because you belong to a site with such a shitty reputation? :p...The bottom line is, YOU guys don't HAVE to read it, or even SEE it, if you REALLY don't want to...And if you DO happen to see it (perhaps in a quote, or you don't wanna hit that ignore button), you DEFINITELY do NOT have to respond to it, or even give a shit about it See people?...It's liberating Quote:
The bottom line is...WE (the mods) do NOT have the tools that are necessary to perform the duties that SHOULD be performed here... We CAN: 1) Delete, edit, merge, and move shit 2) Warn people to 'knock it off', which REALLY works when they know that there's NO repercussion if they DON'T... Think of it this way: Judge: If you don't stop killing people, I'll take away your knife Serial Killer: So, I have another knife Judge: Well, I'll take that one, too Serial Killer: It really doesn't matter, I can get more knives, or a gun, or a chainsaw, or... Judge: Yeah, I guess you're right...Oh well, I did my best with what I have to work with...It isn't like I can actually lock you up or REALLY stop you, so have at it... 3) Allow nuisances to create new screen names Sooo...Whatever ELSE you guys want from us (the mods)...We just don't HAVE

Well... shit...
I read what we've all said collectively and then what the members said and Rayne's response. Since Horror doesn't really feel like doing dick, then I suppose that the "Ignore" option is the best. I mean, you could think about it like this: What's the worse thing you could do to people like these jokers to them and for them? Give them attention. Therefore, anytime this situation arises, we just use ignore. If you want to give them a good "shouting at" first go ahead, but then, ignore. God, am I the nerdy kid or what, but seriously, in order not to start fighting amongst ourselves... What the hell, right? *Sings to the tune of Goodmorning Starshine* Goodmorning bullshit...

You can also ignore them without using the "ignore" feature...that's good too
;)

Well, the "ignore feature" can help you practice ignoring people. However, if the "ignored person" is quoted, well...c'est la vie or something similar.

the ignore button is a wonderful thing, it's really nice not to see the crap these two write

Do you think if we PM'd Horror 'on mass' to get some admin rights for mods it might help, especially if we pointed out that it's his site that's suffering, not just the forum?

Yeah, it's been made pretty obvious that he doesn't fucking care, which is sad, because the threads in this forum show up on the front page of HDC.
So...

Now, Ive never been a mod here, but Ive moderated smaller forums before. Maybe its different here, but I highly doubt it: Banning someone takes a grand total of 20 seconds (at most) to click a couple buttons. I agree with you Rayne that they'll just keep coming back, but if you start banning them on sight, what harm would it do? It's not like its strenuous or anything, and not hard at all to recognize these jokers when they sign up. Banning on sight keeps them off the forum for awhile, and eventually they'll get bored/discouraged and leave.
With more mods, there would be more chance of a mod being around when a troll makes their new account, so they really could be banned on sight. Im not disagreeing with you Rayne, I just dont really get why these guys dont get banned.

Well, that was kinda what I thought, too...But, this isn't exactly a dictatorship...
AND...When they DO come back, they usually come back with a vengeance, creating 10 times MORE shit...If they are ignored, they just get bored and quietly slink away...OR, if they aren't intelligent enough to go away, or they don't have any other life outside of the internet, no one would really care or even KNOW if they were still here or not, if they simply ignore them...Just let them 'talk' to themselves for a while... When we requested the power to IP ban people 2 years ago (when Horror actually WAS posting in the moderator forum, and communicating with us)...He told us the reason HE didn't feel that IP banning was necessary was: 1) "What if another (innocent) user wants to visit the forum at the home of the IP banned person, and they are restricted because of someone else?"...He said that wasn't fair 2) "Many times IPs are random, and a person gets a different one every time he signs in, and in those cases it wouldn't even work"...I have NO clue what he was talking about there 3) "Everyone deserves another chance"...He truly believed that if someone were banned, they would straighten up so that they wouldn't be banned again:rolleyes: 4) "How bad could it possibly get?", "How much 'damage' could a couple of irritating people really cause?, it's ONLY an internet forum"...This just shows that he doesn't spend any time AT this forum So yeah, if the other mods (mod) agreed, we could ban them 50 times a day...But, who has that kind of time?...It takes THEM just as much time to create a new screen name, as it takes for us to ban them...I DO like a lot of games, but that one sucks
