Found this interview on io9 today.

Makes me think they have a pretty good grasp for what the book and original film were about.

The remake doesn't look like a bad movie. Largely unnecessary, but not bad.

Why remake a movie this recent and readily available?
Are people really that scared of reading subtitles?

Because they can make money off of it. And they will.

Just look at what they did to the remake of "REC".

"Quarantine" was absolute rubbish, and the casting was awful.

Just the fact that the filmmakers are bent on giving this story "an American spin" tells you everything you need to know about how bad it will be.

American filmmakers feel that subtlety and nuance are beyond the understanding or appreciation of a typical American audience, which is why they feel horror movies have to be over the top.

And some horror films with potential done by independents turn out to the cinematic equivalent of undercooked pasta (Blair Witch Project).

So now they're going to ruin another great foreign film with a terrible remake.

Yippee. :madmad:

I don't understand how a remake "ruins" the original. Are they going to destroy all copies of the original when the remake comes out?

It's true. They do a massive recall, it's standard procedure. Like Ramesses IV having statues of previous Ramesses altered to be him.

"Let Me In" - Anyone else planning on seeing it this weekend?

Every review I've read has given it a favorable write-up. Just looked it up on Rotten Tomatoes and It has 93%. That said, I will definitely be in attendance this weekend. I'm particularly looking forward to Chloe and Kodi on screen together.

I recommend paying First Showing a visit to read/watch (they have some video) the review from TIFF. I thought they did a particularly good job of covering the film. Note: they reference some scenes from the film in the review. You can actually see a couple of those scenes on "OvertureFilms" YouTube channel. E.g. the car accident scene is on there.

**Read Staci Layne's review as well (horror.com HP). She made a great observation about the film's score.
