I believe it's computer animated graphics. I think it stands for Computer Graphic Imaging ... but that's just a guess.

I agree with Vod's statement about the protagonist's lives being horribly altered by the events. I can't stand a film where there is no character development ... just a personal preference. I feel cheated if the characters experience something truly horrible, fight for their lives, narrowly escape, and walk away laughing back to their day-to-day routines. I hate too much CGI, too ... but some of it can be satisfying.
