I've actually seen something quite like that.
Never seen a leech though. I wanted to feel what it was like to be bitten, so, on a geography excursion to a national park, we were told to walk across rocks and not in the water....about 4 people got em on their feet and ankles, so I tried sticking my hand in the water... Guess they just didn't like me? :(

Anthing with more then 4 legs and has sought refuge in my house will meet it's demise, usually with a Windex stunner and then the paper towel hand of death. *shivers*
