I watched the movie and fell asleep after 2 minutes.

I actually agree with the OP on Jacob's Ladder.

Years ago I looked up "Scariest movies of all time". Jacob's Ladder came up repeatedly.

I went out and bought it. Safe to say, I was amazingly disappointed.

To me, it wasn't scary at all.

I can understand the "It was really disturbing etc..." argument, but I just wasn't impressed. In fact, I was quite bored.

I haven't seen it in over 4 years though, so mayble i'll give it another go.

You must realize though, that I wouldn't have been so disappointed had the film not been praised with such high regard.

I realize now what this thread should have been called, 8 'Disappointing' films. I did a similar search of the most highly regarded horror films, and the films I mentioned popped up over and over again. When you sit down to watch a film of this type and it turns out to be not so great (or downright awful) you can't help but feel a little cheated.

Before I read through this entire thread I would have said that I believed The Excorsist was overrated. As rare as it is I began to think. Do I like the movie? No. Did I find it boring? Yes. Can my feeble opinion negate thousands of lists in which the film is in the top 10?

I'm not sure I agree with the concept of a film being overrated. If millions of people love a movie that you say is overrated, what does that mean? It means you didn't enjoy the film and theres nothing wrong with that. If you take every film ever made there will be atleast one person who would say it was overrated.

Now to sum up my stoned rambling: Every movie ever made is overrated.......or no film has ever been overrated.

I get what you're saying (stoned or not). My negative opinion on a handful of highly regarded films is just that; one person's opinion. I will never understand why people take it so personally when you say you don't like a certain film.

I personally LOVE The Exorcist. If someone were to say that they hated the film or thought it was the worst film ever, would I care? Not really. They're entitled to their opinion. It's not necessarily an act of trolling when someone states they really disliked one of the classics (right, Horrorzack?).
