I completely forgot that I left out The Omen until I checked on the thread about 2 or 3 o'clock Friday.

wtg bw, you sneaked ahead of us again.  :D

I thought An Inconvenient Truth might do better when expanded into a wider release, but it didnt. Also, The Omen at 2 was a safe bet, thinking maybe the curiosity value might propel its $$s. Those 2 mistakes cost my predictions.

Me and you made the same mistakes. I'm still shocked that the Omen only pulled in $15 Million and that it opened at #4. And An Incovinient Truth was a schocker also, as it broke box-office records by making $4,000 in only four theaters a couple of weeks ago. Damn! This weekend is going to be a mystery at the box-office in my opinion.

Week 6 picks

1-Nacho Libre - 37 million
2-The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift
3-Cars
4-The Lake House
5-Garfield: A Tale of 2 Kitties
6-The Omen
7-X-Men: The Last Stand
8-The Break-Up
9-The Da Vinci Code
10-Over the Hedge

Wow, this week is really tough! 4 new (pretty well promoted) movies opening plus Disney's Cars coming off a big opening week. It's a crapshoot as to what film will come out on top this week... I switched F&F with Nacho Libre three times while making this list....

I was doing the same thing. Let alone, I just found out that F&F has more showings than Nacho Libre does at my local theater. My prediction stands, but I won't be surprised to see F&F with the #1 spot this weekend. It's been a shocking summer movie blockbuster season so far, with twists and turns everywhere (The Break-Up topping X3 still taking the prize so far, with The Omen's weak opening coming in at a close second).

Garfield looks terrible & will more than likely be a massive flop.

I think The Lake House looks stupid, but it'll do okay with the date crowd.

F&F as well as Nacho Libre will be hit or miss depending on how their reviews start rolling in. I could see either being a HUGE hit or a HUGE flop.

Garfield looks like shit and doesn't stand much of a chance at the box-office (why the fuck would you release this movie a week after Cars?!?)! The Lake House will do good with the date crowd, but not too well in the theaters IMO. And I agree with you whole-heartedly on the Nacho Libre & F&F statement! We'll just have to see what happens come Monday Morning.

Week 6 Results

1-Cars - 31 million
2-Nacho Libre
3-The Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift
4-The Lake House
5-The Break-Up
6-Garfield: A Tale of 2 Kitties
7-X-Men: The Last Stand
8-The Omen
9-The Da Vinci Code
10-Over the Hedge

Let's tally up the scores for week 6 and see who came out on top....

Yellow Jacket - 8 points
V - 17 points
bwind22 - 22 points

Well, it was another pretty low scoring week. No one predicted Cars topping the box office again so it ended up boiling down to who got a couple of the other ones right through more or less lucky guessing.

This week, we have Click and Waist Deep accounting for the two main theatrical releases.

Good luck in week 7 everyone.

I will be out of town from the 23rd-30th and will not be able to post scores until I get back, so basically if anyone wants to stand in as me for a week, feel free, otherwise I will update this when I return.
