Last Horror Movie
Wasn't what I expected but I did like it a lot... I just wish there were more problems for the killer. It all just seemed too easy.

I am not, however, backing down on 2001 Maniacs. It's nothing more than a comedy. Granted it has blood, guts, and gore, but there was nothing remotely scary about this movie. (Of course, you will say the same thing about some of the movies I find scary! :) ) The redneck, backwoodsy humor got old after about 10 minutes. If that kid and his sheep ran through one more scene...I would have thrown something at the TV!!! I did like Robert Englund in it, even though he was one of the most over-the-top characters. And I did like the ending. It didn't go out the way a lot of horror movies (excuse me, comedies) do. I stand by my initial rating of 3 and the caveat of it being overly generous.

Of the four movies I rated, Creep and Satan's Little Helper were the two I actually liked best. I know that doesn't show in the ratings, but I'm new at this. ;)
Just out of curiosity... have you seen 2000 Maniacs?

The Pink Panther (2006) (***/*****)
A lot of times, comedies aren't that great. They throw in all of the funny scenes in to a trailer, leaving nothing redeeming in the movie itself, and hope for big box office numbers. They get money, regardless of if the film is considered "funny" or not afterwards. Just look at Date Movie. The Wayan Bros. are complete hacks in my mind, just look at their new movie. It's shameful.

Anyways, I was getting to the point that this movie does not suffer from that. In fact, every scene I laughed out loud at (not a lot, but hey...) was not even glimpsed at in the trailer - and those shown in it happened to be some of the more generic and bland laughs. So I was glad for that.

Also a few scenes in the movie made me wonder if I had accidently stumbled into the deleted scenes. They were pointless, unessacary, and not even that funny. The scene where he causes a city-wide blackout served no purpose and could have been cut in to the film at ANY point. That would have made a decent TV spot, because it's a standalone.

Steve Martin is one of the better actors in comedy today, not the best but I would consider him up there. Of course I don't count Will Farrel as a comedy actor because I simply despise everything he's in for the sheer fact he is not funny, just stupid and he annoys me. But hey, seems people like that. Whatever. I'll get to the point - he does a great job in this movie. Completely unlike anything he has done in the past,t hat I have seen. His accent is amazing, and I was suprised he kept it intact completely through the film. I won't compare him to Peter Sellers, because I haven't seen any of his work. But I'd say he did a good job regardless.

If you like comedies, check it out. Not sure if I could reccomend it otherwise. Not a real big fan of this type of stuff myself anyway. It kept me entertained, but then again - I got a little tired throughout. I thank the 90m time limit, though.

When I was going up the stairs,
I met a man who wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today,
I wish, I wish he'd go away.

Identity (*****/*****)
I have two things to say about this movie. One, I can't believe that this isn't somewhere on the Top 250 list - of course not at the top, but damn... it should be on there somewhere. Second, this is the type of film that just gets better upon second viewing.

I actually have three things to say. The third - a film is referred to in the movie about 10 people on an Island. Even though they reveakl a twist, and a significant one I would believe, I would like to see it. Anyone know the title? I'mm dig through IMDb.

The rest of what I wanted to say, I won't. It's too revealing to the ending, and that's unfair. I'll be vague though, since it might bother some people to not have any clue. The film is smart when it comes to the focus of certain characters. I can't say anything else.

Except... RECCOMENDED.
