Went to watch Andre Williams speak in Chicago on Saturday, promoting a new book that Norton Records is putting out. Got to meet him, which was incredible. So I've been spinning some of his stuff

Then Sunday, my uncle's band played with Jon Spencer's band Heavy Trash (got to meet him as well), so I've been playing their new record I just picked up, too.

Sounds like a you had a great weekend dude!

What's that Heavy Trash album like? I dig the early Jon Spencer Blues Explosion stuff (but didn't think much of them after the album Orange) and Pussy Galore anything like that?

Oh man, it was pretty great. My uncle is actually really good friends with the couple that owns Norton, so I get to be privy to some incredible goings-down. I also got to talk with Cynthia Plaster Caster at the Andre Williams reading, too. She was just there hanging out, so I bought her a copy of Andre's book. Haha, good times.

Anyway, I'm really digging this Heavy Trash album. It's fairly removed from Pussy Galore and Blues Explosion. It's kind of like rockabilly thrown in a blender; a little punk, blues, some Tom Waits maybe. Definitely interesting stuff.

Also been rocking to MC5's Kick out the Jams on the way to and from work the past couple of days:

Been rotating a lot of stuff lately, which is nice.

Just found a box of LPs that I thought I'd lost, which included all of my Hasil Adkins stuff, so I've been spinning his records a lot lately:

Elvis, have you ever gotten into him? I figure you probably have, but just in case- Do it! His songs are incredible and he was as mad as a hatter. Great, great music.

Great album.

Hasil Adkins is rad. I listen to Out To Hunch a lot, I'd love to find it on vinyl.
