I'm working on a cyberpunk horror game - Synthetic Souls : Locked Unit

Hello everyone,

I recently came across this forum while searching for horror communities. Before posting, I reviewed the forum rules and didn't find any specific directives regarding sharing personal projects, so I hope it's okay to introduce my work and get your thoughts on it. If this isn't the right place, please let me know!

What is Synthetic Souls: Locked Unit?

Synthetic Souls: Locked Unit is a cyberpunk first-person psychological horror game focused on exploration, puzzle-solving, and environmental storytelling. Uncover the tragic story of Unit 199, where a fragmented consciousness lingers.

The game puts you inside a mysterious storage facility where reality and technology start to blur. As you explore, you'll uncover cryptic messages, sift through fragmented logs, and mess around with strange devices, all while trying to piece together a bigger mystery. The deeper you go, the more unsettling things get.

An Anthology of Cyberpunk Horror

Synthetic Souls is actually planned as an anthology series. Each episode will be its own standalone story, so you don't need to play them in order, but they'll all be set in the same universe, sharing themes around humanity's evolving relationship with technology and the idea of digital immortality.

There will be subtle connections between episodes for players who like digging into lore, but every game will stand on its own. Expect themes of moral dilemmas, identity, and how technology can push the boundaries of what it means to be human.

I really want to touch different core cyberpunk subject and push them further into horror while trying to relate to more mundane settings. Such as a janitors going for work and things go bad, as a hard boiled detective solving the worst case, as a government worker being forced to to horrible things for the good of the nation, etc....

What to Expect in Locked Unit:

First-Person Exploration: Immerse yourself in a dark cyberpunk world where every detail tells part of the story.

Environmental Storytelling: Learn about the past through notes, terminals, and objects scattered throughout the environment.

Puzzle-Solving: Solve complex puzzles, things like power grids, security overrides, and cryptic codes.

Psychological Horror: No cheap jumpscares, just deep, unsettling horror that plays with your mind.

Narrative Depth: A compelling story that explores identity, memory, and the consequences of advanced technology.

Looking for Feedback from Horror Fans

Since this is the first game in the series, I'd really love to hear your thoughts. What makes psychological horror work for you? Do you prefer slow-burn tension, or do you like a mix of unsettling moments and more immediate horror? If you're into cyberpunk horror, what aspects do you enjoy most in a this type of universe?

I'd love to chat about horror in general and hear what you think about the concept. Looking forward to your thoughts!
