i was never part of a clique either .. and it confuses kids..
I loved visualy arts - but wasnt an artsy ... i played on the school sports teams but didnt hang with the jocks.
I hated the 'rich kids' that were jerks ..didnt pick on the 'braniacs' but didnt hang with them either ..

i had a vary cool group of friends of about 6 or 7 and the only thing that defined them was that they were all very nice - decent people.

since having a kid it became very clear to me why kids 'hang with their own' and eventually (hopefully - if they have the maturity) grow out of it.

when you see the babies at the daycare .. they play individually - babies arent social creatures. they spend their time learning and exploring - and dont like to share.

as they get older - they all play together regardless of sex or race.

but - they get a little older and the boys seperate from the girls ... a littl eolder and the little black guys start hanging together seperatelt from the white kids.

here's where it gets interesting ... it shows that we naturally - instinctively start to split into groups based on physical appearance - not interests.

just like in the animal kingdom ... the red fish swim with the red fish, the blue fish stay with the blue ..etc

so .. the next thing that happens is that we put kids through school or teach them at home where they develop and grow and learn to overcome these natural instincts with intelligence. just like we learn to outgrow the other instincts like greed and violence.

its not too goddamn hard to see thats where the next division comes ... the races/sexes will come back together and the intelligent will seperate from the 'not so intelligent' - the people who are unable to overcome base instinct and learn how to live within a society in a productive manner.

i think in highschool this is illustrated with the cliques. hopefully by the time these people graduate - this will end and they'll learn to blend in society...otherwise .. yikes ..
