nothing visible at all..

actally i did have another movie that wouldnt play on any DVD player
but it played on my PC - so i made a copy of it. i should try that with Dune

Its usually the reverse with my disks.

The players play em quite nicely, but some of em freeze up on my PC - PowerDVD, WinDVD, VLC Media, WMP - none for the better.

Ever have a disk which had a hairline crack like mine had? And did it play okay, or freeze up?

Naturally, I felt very angry at damaging my copy. Maybe I pulled it out a bit harder or something - I dunno how you all take your DVDs out of their cases, but I usually press the central spindle of the case gently and firmly, and it gives way, easing the DVD out - or maybe I pushed the disk back in more firmly than I should have, the last time I took it out for a watch.

That made me have a real alarming thought. I went through the rest of my DVDs and sure enough, 3 other disks have long, thin cracks stretching from the center to about one-third into the disk.

This is getting worrying, and annoying.

you should make back up discs of your dvd's as soon as you buy them, that way you use the copies and never have to mess with the originals again.

never had a cracked disc.

there are some cases that really are tough to get out though .. i'm really careful with those

Nah. I'm always incredibly careful with my discs. I generally push the middle bit and slowly pull it. If I feel I'm putting to much pressure on the outer edge of the disc as I pull it up, I press the middle more. Never cracked one.

I got a repair kit for dvds and cds.I got mine at walmart for like $10,its a clear liquid you paint on it.It fixed mine,you might give it a try!!!!:)

That's what I do too. I'm afraid if I press too hard I'll crack it though I never have). I also never put them anywhere besides the case when they are not in the DVD player.

It sounds like some Gremlins have got into your collection, it takes a bit to brake a cd or dvd, more thean removing it roughly.
