I really enjoy the Omen movies and of the 3 theatrical movies I think Damien Omen 2 is my fave. If you want to know what i find scary about Damien Omen 2 it would have to be the scene where Robert Foxworth is in a board meeting talking about the future of Thorne enterprises. Foxworth says the future is in Famin WOW. After I saw that it made me wonder is big business really like that? Its a scary thought mind you I was thinking that back in 1978 when I was 17. What I like about the Omen movies is that they reflict real life and how if Satan or his son were involved which makes for good movie making imo. Another fave part of Damien Omen 2 is when Damien finds out he is the AntiChrist.

The duo's disovery of the coyote skeleton in Damien's mother's coffin is still chilling, as is the aforementioned hanging bit; "Damien! This is for YOU!" SMASH!

If I recal it was the Daughter of Jack Palance Holly who played the part of Damiens Nanny who hung herself in the Omen. Of course they had to get a new Nanny. I guess Damiens real mother who was dead in a coffin was a real bitch. I agree very good scene.

Actually I never did clear that one up: since Damien is the son of Satan, are we to assume his mother was human... or literally the coyote we see in her coffin? (In which case, that makes old Nick into bestiality as well as his other mischief).
In the sequel, we learn Damien's blood is that of a coyote's... This ambiguity has always troubled me, and the uncertainty of it all makes these elements very scary indeed. |

i read the book (possibly before the movie - not sure) and it was made plain that damien was born to a jackyl (sp ?)
and was killed along with the Thorn's baby ..to make the switch possible. i cant remember it being ambiguous at all ? |

That's right, it was a Jackal not a Coyote.
But - did it go into the logical nightmare of a human being born to a small canine animal? Or do the creators of The Omen expect us to wave this one away since we're already talking about sons of Satan and other fantasy? |

Guess that's about the size of it.
The supernatural elements I can buy, the whole good vs evil thing I can buy, hell I can even buy a big-ass, red, horned Satan at a push... but him doing it with a Jackal and a baby popping out (9 months?) later? This is no The Beyond-style "spiders" issue here - this is asking a lot more! Strange though, how some elements of horror are not questioned when other elements are present - because we know The Devil is involved, then he can just make stuff happen... |

but if someone presents it in a fun way then i just sit back and enjoy. For me it's 99% about the acting .. |
