It was eerie to see them rise from the depths at night and go into a frenzy when feeding, not only would they attack each other, some to the point of death but a few even attacked the divers. I imagine their sharp beaks could take a nice little chunk out of you.
One thing you missed in posting this, though, was that they were able to prove (or at least strongly suggest) that the frenzies were brought on by the squid being fished with big nasty looking barbed hooks. The fishermen start snagging them with the barbs, the squid freak out, which freaks out the other squid, and they start going batshit.

On a side note...I've always wondered how underwater welding was possible...hmm

Oh you can't live without scarcasm but can you live without the disco squid. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/6357005.stm
T. danae is thought to be abundant in the tropical and subtropical oceans of the world. The largest reported measured 2.3m (7.5ft) in length and weighed nearly 61.4kg (134.5lbs). This baby is the size of a middle aged man & lights up! Bask in the illumination that is the disco squid.
Sharks can't seem to keep away from the callimari! Heres one that preys on the big boys.
This shark went the all night squid buffet at Red Lobster because when they opened him up they found least 49 colossal squid and eight giant squid. I get a stomach ache just thinking about it. :(
