I really didn't.
I thought it was a film trying to have a plot line like Oceans 11 directed by Tarantino.

Although, it was a pretty good effort by Alicia Keys.

For a Few Dollars More. Excellent.

The Thing From Another World (1951)

Certainly not as subtle or mysterious as Carpenter's masterpiece, but the idea is solid and the chills plentiful, atop some very sound acting, and one hell of a creature.

My thoughts exactly.

Catching up on the all-timers #7...

Carrie. 07/10

The book was so awesome. But the movie lacks the punch. Its all fine till about the last half an hour when it diverts from the book and takes its own turn. Till then, its strong as hell. Near flawless direction, excellent edgy and haunting atmosphere, and the jumpy scare near the end...all add to the creepiness of this movie.

Sissy Spacek is perfectly cast, and the scene-stealer Piper Laurie as Margaret White is equally impressive. Young uns Nancy Allen and John Travolta's characters arent developed better, unlike in the book. But overall, Carrie is one movie which makes you think...and feel scared...both at the same time.

Very disturbing film of lives spiralling downwards out of control. One of the best films I will ever get the chance to see in my lifetime.
Totally and utterly agree......

This Night I'll Possess Your Corpse

Brazilian Writer/Director/Actor Jose Mojica Marins returns as Ze do Caixao (or Coffin Joe) in this bizzaro sequel to At Midnight I'll Take Your Soul. The story follows an agnostic philosopher of a grave digger in search of a perfect (read - morally bankrupt) woman to bear his son and thus keep his "superior" bloodline alive. But women who aren't up to snuff get...snuffed. Although the story is thin and quite slow, the lensing is excellent, the mood is brilliantly creepy and the dream sequence leaps from black & white to vivid giallo-esge color in an incredible depiction of hell. Of course the film devolves into moralism in the end, but is rather subversive (for the time and the country) up until the end.

7/10
