This Night I'll Possess Your Corpse
Brazilian Writer/Director/Actor Jose Mojica Marins returns as Ze do Caixao (or Coffin Joe) in this bizzaro sequel to At Midnight I'll Take Your Soul. The story follows an agnostic philosopher of a grave digger in search of a perfect (read - morally bankrupt) woman to bear his son and thus keep his "superior" bloodline alive. But women who aren't up to snuff get...snuffed. Although the story is thin and quite slow, the lensing is excellent, the mood is brilliantly creepy and the dream sequence leaps from black & white to vivid giallo-esge color in an incredible depiction of hell. Of course the film devolves into moralism in the end, but is rather subversive (for the time and the country) up until the end. 7/10
