I think you'll be pleased. It might not be gory and it's not superhero stuff but it's a fun, weird, examination of geek culture and heroism in today's lazy, banal low income world.

Also pretty cool, and I'm sure will answer some questions.
I still have hope for some kind of redemption for this character...always liked him, regardless of which mask/face he was wearing.
I was rooting for him to get the cowl. Him or Tim.

Just started reading Ennis' The Boys. First impressions is that it's vulgar and misogynistic, which I understand is the point, but it seems to revel in it a bit more than I'd prefer. I keep hearing good things about it, though, so I'm giving it a chance...

As it progresses, there gets to be a bit more of an emotional center to the series. I really enjoyed the latest volume. Ennis is a smart guy that sometimes gets bogged down in the business of being offensive and provocative. Preacher for example, makes some played theological arguments as well as presenting some very fresh perspectives on our relationship to the divine.

I thought that Preacher was incredible. One of my favorite comics. Ever. I've gone through Volume 2 of The Boys now and I'm still feeling very meh about it - But there are two very intelligent people whom I know who like the series (you and another friend of mine), so I will continue to give it a try...

Transmetropolitan Vol. 3: Year of the Bastard. LOVE this comic. LOVE this series. Makes me want to cheer with every page turn. This volume was especially brilliant. Really can't put it down. REALLY wish I had requested the next couple of volumes from the library to go along with it... I want more Spider...

The Couriers and The Couriers 02: Dirtbike Manifesto. Pretty much mindless shoot-em-up manga-like stuff. Fluff. Not bad, but not great. It'll be a better movie, if it pans out...

I'm very fond of Transmetropolitan. Spider Jerusalem is one of the greatest heroes in comics history.

Thoroughly agree. Quite possibly my favorite comic ever. It makes me want to cheer. That doesn't happen very often.

Started reading Fables. Thanks MM for the rec! It's a blast - So incredibly clever and well-written. Thoroughly enjoying it.
