Dwayne Johnson will take on the supernatural world for the first time since 2005's "Doom" (if you don't count "The Tooth Fairy" or "Race to Witch Mountain") as he's signed on to star in "Monster Hunter's Survival Guide," according to Deadline.

"Monster" is based on the comic book miniseries by John Paul Russ, a comprehensive guide on how to hunt monsters -- and, more importantly, how to survive such confrontations. It ran five issues earlier this year with each issue focusing on a different type of monster and how to kill them.

Issue #1 was “The Undead,” #2 was “Cryptids,” #3 was “Giant Monsters,” #4 was “Unnatural Beasts” and #5 was “Fantasy Creatures.”

Monsters surround us. They’re everywhere; on TV, in movies… they haunt our nightmares. But are they real? Do Vampires, Werewolves, and Zombies really exist? And if so, how can we survive against them? At last here is the comprehensive guide every Monster Hunter must have! The Rock is on something of a comeback, both as an actor and a wrestler -- let's hope an adaptation of an obscure comic book helps him stay on target.

Johnson has had quite the year, starting with the massive success of Fast Five, shooting G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation and coming up he’s got Journey 2 on deck as well as a Fast and Furious sequel, Snitch and more.

He’s also returning to the WWE part time as his alter-ego The Rock.
