I had thought it was going to be in the vein of movies like Blood Sucking Freaks, just wildly exploitative and crazy for the sake of crazy. But found it fascinatingly unsettling, all in all I do like it, It's not one that I watch over and over again, but it does have a prominent spot among my collection, and I always
mention it and lend it out to anyone I know looking to delve into those grindhouse type flicks.

(Could have done without the animal killings BUT I suppose that helped its notoriety, which if it didnt have, I might've never heard of it)

Doesn't sound like anyone who's seen it is saying it was particularly good, just unsettling. I've never seen it, but it sounds like a fictional version of Faces of Death (I don't mean the story is exact, just generally speaking).

Cannibal Holocaust is a fantastic film - its clever, manipulative and head and shoulders above the rest of the genre. It has an amazing soundtrack and is one of the first films to use the 'found footage' technique which it uses to turn the audience into uncomfortable voyeurs while at the same time exploiting what it pretends to condemn.

I bought the 1931 version of Frankenstein around the year 2008. That was the first time I ever bought any film on the internet. That was what I was trying to say, not that it was the first film I bought the year it came out. They did not have internet or take home movies (i.e dvd, vhs, etc.) in 1931, and I would not be born until many decades in the future (from a 1931 perspective).

I appreciate all the aspects of Cannibal Holocaust that you mentioned, but I thought that it went way too far. There is only so much violence and sexual stuff that I can handle and that movie went way over my personal line. I recognize its brilliance and contribution to horror movies, but will likely never watch it again.

100% agree with this. I saw it expecting the usual exploitation nonsense, and walked away thinking it was actually a good film.

From what I can tell, in March 1999 I bought Beautiful Girls, Clay Pigeons and Joe's Apartment on DVD from Amazon.com.

I bought the Tox Box a few years ago. The first three Toxic Avenger films and the Toxic Crusaders "movie" which was essentially 3-4 episodes just played back to back to back. lol

What can I say? I'm a Troma guy, always have been always will be.
