Insidious- Haven't seen

The Grudge: 2 (It had some effective scenes, but overall I thought it was more cheesy than scary)

Shutter- Haven't seen

Could you be a little more precise, Mike?

Shutter - 3

V, just double checking, going by the pics, you're asking about Thai Shutter, and US Grudge, right?

With good reason! I expect the final tally will be very close.

I really hope those ratings were given by mistaking the original for the US remake. To be frank, the original Shutter is one of the most scary films ever made, in my opinion at least.

Anyway...

Scare-O-Meter scores (out of 5)

Insidious (based on 6 ratings) - 3.0
The Grudge (remake, based on 7 ratings) - 2.7
Shutter (based on 7 ratings) - 2.7

All 3 films achieve more than decent scores, although Shutter should have had a much higher rating, IMO.

All 3 films added to the opening post.

My nephew is coming over this weekend (for my birthday) and we will be watching a bunch of horror movies (me and him are big horror movie fans). I just now ordered (I still have some birthday money and what not) the original Shutter solely based on your recommendation V. I hope it is really good. I should note that supernatural movies tend to scare me, so hopefully it will be both good and scary. Is it anything like Tale of Two Sisters? The reason I ask is that I really liked that movie and I have to admit that is one of the only films that I actually screamed at one part.
