Made me laugh.....
OK, I guess you want a serious answer though. Funny Ha Ha The Puffy Chair Baghead LOL Hannah Takes the Stairs Tiny Furniture Computer Chess I kind've hate the term "mumblecore" if I'm honest, but it is what it is. I would recommend checking out The Puffy Chair (The Duplass Brothers are a great example of mumblecore) and anything with Greta Gerwig. Wiki link to a more extensive list of mumblecore (just saying it makes me gag); http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mumblecore |

Yeah, I absolutely hated the term when I first heard it but now I use it all the time as it turns out I really like a lot of films in the genre.
The Wikipedia article is fairly comprehensive, but here are my personal favorites: The Puffy Chair Humpday Tiny Furniture Frances Ha Drinking Buddies True Adolescents and Safety Not Guaranteed aren't listed in the Wikipedia article but they have a similar feel to them (as well as Mark Duplass), so I'd lump them in. I adored both of those movies. The Do-Deca-Pentathlon and Computer Chess are both on Netflix Instant now; I haven't watched them yet but want to check them out. I also need to see Funny Ha Ha. Hanna Takes the Stairs was good, but I prefer some of the other titles more. Last edited by ChronoGrl; 01-09-2014 at 12:05 PM. |

Safety Not Guaranteed was great. One of the few comedies I've bothered to watch a couple of times but I dug how different it was. Hated Drinking Buddies tho... only got 20 minutes in and found the characters to annoying to continue on ![]() |

A few more mumblecore films that are on Netflix that I haven't yet seen: Medicine for Melancholy Red Flag Somebody Up There Likes Me The Off Hours (heard it's not great though) A couple mumblecore films I've watched recently on Netflix that were not bad: The Lie (directed by and starring Joshua Leonard, "Josh" from Blair Witch) Nobody Walks (stars John Krasinski from The Office) A few I've watched recently, not on Netflix: The GoodTimesKid -- pretty unique style for mumblecore, not much mumbling. A few Joe Swanberg films, who IMO is the most purist of the mumblecore directors, and a bit disturbing in a kinda creepy guy way. He's acted in a few mumblegore films (which tend not to be pure mumblecore, but related in one way or another) - V/H/S, A Horrible Way to Die, You're Next. Alexander the Last - features Jess Weixler from "Teeth", explores themes of jealousy and the blurring of fiction and reality for actors. Silver Bullets - similar in theme to Alexander, but darker and more art house. Psychologically tense and unnerving at times. Not really a horror film / mumblegore, as it's sometimes classified as. It's drama. Uncle Kent - this one was the most affecting to me, really awkward and believable. You don't know whether to love or hate the guy, and the fact that you might relate to him somehow is a bit depressing, but the reason the film is so good. |

I watched Nobody Walks a few weeks back, outside of some solid acting performances especially from Thirlby and DeWitt I wasn't too impressed. Starts out promising and looks good but it all falls a bit flat. You're probably right though, its not bad really, I just thought it could've been better.
