... My most recently-seen movies... Ghost Team One (2013) ![]() Guys. OMG. This movie was a total blast. Granted, I had very little expectations going into it - I knew that it was found footage and a comedy, so I was just hoping for a few laughs here and there but it was HYSTERICAL. The thrives off of the dumb, base humor of adolescent boys - The story centers around two college kids who discover that their apartment building used to be a flophouse and they are being haunted its long-dead Madame... Who's horny. Very very horny. Dick jokes, humping jokes, sex humor - This movie parodies both found footage films (Paranormal Activity in particular) and frat boy humor. I laughed out loud multiple times, especially during the movie's climax (hur hur), which was just AMAZING. Please go see this - It's dumb, hilarious, and a TON of fun. I really think that a lot of you on here will get a kick out of it (Newb, I have you specifically in mind). I'm having a hard time giving this a star-rating. Did I have a blast watching it? Absolutely. Would I say that it's an amazing film to be added to the canon of horror movies? Not necessarily. But DAMN was it fun. 3.75/5. ... Edge of Tomorrow (2014) ![]() Two words: Loved it. I hate to admit it, but I was originally turned off by this movie just because of the presence of Tom Cruise. I totally wrote it off. But I had heard that the source material, All You Need is Kill, was a damn good manga, so I was intrigued. And as soon as the positive reviews started rolling in for the movie, I just had to go see it. And I'm really glad that I saw it in the theater. First and foremost, it's a solid scifi movie. Touches on the concept of - If you could live your day over and over again, what would you do? And what are the ramifications, especially when you're at war? The movie definitely hits some emotional highs and lows, just as good scifi should. And the reason behind why, exactly, he lives the day over and over again, was really damn clever and fascinating. Secondly, it was a damn good action movie! I find most action movies to be dull and formulaic, but there were actual consequences to the action here - Death feels heavy and not just for the sake of a body count. The movie is absolutely intense and had me sitting at the edge of my seat a few times. Thirdly, Emily Blunt is amazing. She is a kickass action hero and I absolutely loved watching her. And Tom Cruise was great in this role too. He's not the typical action hero (at least at the start), and it was fun to watch him as he adapts to the repetition of the day. Fourth, the movie never takes itself too seriously. The humor is clever and it works - It plays with the circular time aspect and does it well. And, finally, it was just damn fun to see in the theater. I really loved this, guys. I recommend it. 4/5. |

Godzilla Vs Destroyah 1995
3/10 Godzilla's inner nuke plant is overheating, it's explosion or meltdown could destroy the earth. Luckily there's a kid who has most simple suggestions that everyone will think are flabbergasting. The visuals of Godzilla pulsating in red light are cool. Other than that, there's not much to like. The dialogue is mind numbingly laughable. What must be done with Godzilla & when, keeps changing, and not in a good way. Many of the 90's G-films are alike, and this wasn't what I remembered. |

Would it be enjoyable for someone who hasn't seen Paranormal Activity?

AMITYVILLE A NEW GENERATION. 1993
I'm making my way through some of the Amityville films. The one I last watched involved someone bringing a possessed clock from the Amityville house into their home. This one involves a mirror given to a young photographer that was also from the Amityville house. People around him start dying mysteriously til his connection to the mirror is revealed. So far, not good. ![]() |

Plus the humor is so over-the-top and silly that it doesn't matter if you've seen those movies. It's like watching frat boys goof off. In a good way. ![]() |

![]() 2 Great Alex de la Iglesia films - both very different but equally entertaining. The horribly retitled Witching & Bitching is a high octane off beat comedy horror, in the same vein as his earlier Day of the Beast while The Baby's Room is a atmospheric haunted house horror. Need to check out more of this guys work (I loved The Last Circus too) |
