Wii??

Just got mine today.
Wii sports, wii play, 2 full nunchaku controllers.
I will be getting a router in a couple weeks.

Question #1: The "old" games you can pay for, and use in the whole "virtual console" bit, the sega and nintendo and tg16 type stuff...When you get those, are they yours to keep or what? What are they stored in?

Question #2: What are the current and upcoming online wii features, including gaming, demos, downloads, chats...anything y'all know of.

Question #3: Do I actually NEED the "classic controllers" to play the older games? Some guy says apparently you do?

Question #4: For the motion sensor thing that comes with it, is there an ideal location of placement compared to where you're standing? What levels/distance...etc...

Thanks guys.

Sorry, I got no answers for ya, but I will be checking in on this thread because I'm interested to hear the answers to some of your questions. I'm currently weighing the options between Wii/PS3/360 and trying to decide which system I wanna get next.

I'm pretty sure you need the wii classic controller to play the old games.
I don't know about the other questions though.

Yeah just the wii controller, you won't be able to use the nunchuck controller. Just the rectangular one. The guy who said you need the classic controller is out of his effin mind. When you purchase the games, THEY should be yours too keep. Get a wireless router, since wii has the built in wifi. Enjoy playing you bastard  I haven't been able to find one around here.

If you are just playing NES games thats fine but for SNES SEGA and TG16 you need the classic as there are not enough buttons. I think. I don't have a Wii so I could be wrong. the games are stored on SD memory cards you can buy.
you keep the games they sell some kind od WiiPoints which makes you think you can earn them in a game or online but i think it is just a gift card type thing you buy is stores.
as for the motion sensor i think 10-15 feet not sure but you can replace the light bar with candles.

GO TO www.ign.com FOR MORE INFO THEY HAVE A LOT ABOUT GAMES

I've had mine for about 4 months now and I LOVE it...my kinda system:)

Ok, I hope this helps some...

#1...yes, you can keep them as long as you have, or want to spare the memory for them. You get a certain amont of "blocks" you can use to store games, and channels. You get points either through a retailer, or you can use your credit card on the Wii itself to get points to buy games/channels.

#2...not really sure. I HEARD Nintendo is trying to stay away from the whole buddy/chat thing, but who knows. As of right now the only thing I know you can do is store your Mii's (if you haven't made one yet, do it. They're awesome. Mine looks scary similar to me) in your remote and take them to play on a friends console.

#3...Yes, you need a classic controller for most virtual console games. Some of them you can use your "Wiimote" turned on it's side, but for some you have to get the extention, or a Game Cube controller will work also.

#4...I found that mine works best on top of my television. Depending on where your TV is though, this may differ. Mine is about 4 feet off the ground I'd say, and you need about 3 to 7 feet to stand back and play.

Btw..get Rayman Raving Rabbids asap, it's a fun time.

Actually...I took mine back...
I just wasn't impressed.
Low amount of space in my room meant that it wasn't really optimal for the motion sensor stuff, it just didn't carry through, I didn't have enough distance.
Not to mention, those "games" that came with it...nah...
So, thought fuck it, got a brand new ps2 with a couple controllers and a memory card and 2 games for the exchange.
Think I'll be going with ps3 within a few months, this should tide me over 'til then. I guess at least this way, I can buy around 5 games for $100AUD, and not just one. Showed my trademark lack of patience yet again...and got a ps2...a PINK ps2 god save me...

get a 360. trust me.

Wii has shit graphics, PS3 has bad frame rate and freezes alot. 360 is practically flawless.
