Can anyone think of any old movies with a fire monster?

Fire monster is as good as I can describe it because I was only about 5 when I saw it on TV. It scared me so much I still remember it. I'm pretty sure it's from the 60s or earlier because I was born in that decade.
I think it was big, looming over a building, with a jagged mouth and black/dark eyes. That's what I seem to remember anyway. Thoughts of this scene keep coming back now and then, and I've always wondered what movie it was.

It wasn't a person on fire; I seem to remember a creature made completely out of fire, with no solid physical being. It only showed the head, and within the flames are vague facial features like mouth and eyes. It was big, probably the size of King Kong or those things in War of the Worlds.

Was it one of the "Godzilla" movies? There are many fire breathing monsters in the series. Can you draw up what the monster looks like, and paste it in a photo-bucket attachment, so we have a better idea of what movie the monster may be from?

I'll see if I can come up with a rough sketch of what I remember tomorrow. But I have virtually no artistic ability, so it will probably look like it came from a first-grader.

It didn't come out well; I guess I have even less artistic ability than I thought. It's not really important though.:)

I wouldn't even think they could pull that off in the 60's.....it must have looked really lame.

The ID monster in Forbidden Planet is made out of nebulous luminescent energy that looks sort of flame like. There's no kaiju I know of made of fire, and nothing from fifties monster movies.

Could it be Gigantis the Fire Monster? It would be a large monster over buildings.
