Newbie with a question

Obviously this is my first post. Looking forward to sharing ideas with you guys.

I have one question for you guys. Now, I love horror novels--from Barker and King to the truly dark and twisted works of Laymon and Ketchum. The strange thing is while I love reading in this genre, I don't always get as excited about the movies. Even the best horror movies, while I can enjoy them to a degree, I just don't watch many of them--which is strange considering how much I read them.

So i was just wondering, Does anyone else feels this way?

Thanks,

Jim

While I've always loved reading, I don't have as much patience for it as I used to. So I'm definitely a movie girl!

HDC is not all about movies....we also have a section on books and horror fiction.

Games...there's a section for that

True crime....Bunday, Gacy, Trump

Toys.....lots of toy related post in that section

General ......go there to post whatever is on your mind....from what you just ate to complaining about that pesky neighbor two doors down.

Same as Bloofer. Except my preferred genre of book is murder mystery.

For me, it all depends on how well the movie is made. I don't have time to read like I used to so I prefer to watch the movies these days. Most of the time if you compare the book to the movie, you will probly be disappointed.

I think the one thing that I do enjoy more about reading opposed to watching, is creating in my own mind what the characters look like or what the locations look like.

I still do enjoy reading zombie books, though, that will probly never change!!

I read quite a bit of horror but I watch a hell of a lot of horror movies. I've always loved books and scary stories so I can't imagine that will change, but I watch more scary shit than I read these days. I'll say about a...70/30 split?

I also read horror essays and nonfiction. Film reviews and the like can be really entertaining and informative. The history of horror is endlessly fascinating to me. Just thought I'd add that to the convo.

Same on more into movies because no longer have the patience for books, and that it depends on the book and movie.

When I was a teen I was a huge reader, and always had something to complain about with the movie that the book did way better. Didn't read much horror when I was that age, mostly Goosebumps and Harry Potter. And occasional pharmacy store paranormal romance bullshit (this was before I had internet access and the glorious ebay).

Now if I read it's usually on monsters (werewolves for the most part if that wasn't obvious), and one particular cannibal tale I'm VERY fond of. Dunno if it was made into a movie, but I doubt it'll be as good as the book. But anyway those are what keep my interest best if I ever try to read.

I often wish I could read more, but then I wanna spend it on drawing instead, or watching a show or movie. Next thing I know my books are covered in dust...
