Ramzi Abed has informed Horror.com that his mysteriously titled "Untitled Black Dahlia Project" (also known by the even more mysterious title "?") is now set to shoot this coming January. He confirmed a few details about the casting and crew of the movie. David J of the bad "Love & Rockets" will be scoring the film along with John Neff ("Mulholland Drive") and composer Gerard Marino. The title track (written & composed by David J) has already been recorded.

The confirmed cast includes many well-known names. Scream-queen and cult favorite Karen Black is involved, as are the Amazonian beauty Julie Strain and her sister, Lizzy. The film is also studded with indie director legend cameos. Alejandro Jodorowsky - of "El Topo" and "Santa Sangre" fame - has a cameo, as does Richard Rush ("The Stunt Man") and Troma's Lloyd Kaufman.

Categorized by IMDB as a crime/mystery/thriller, the "Untitled Black Dahlia Project" is meant to be a modern-day reflection on the so-called Black Dahlia murder. Elizabeth Short - aka "the Black Dahlia" - was a beautiful young starlet who was brutally murdered - literally cut in half - in 1947. To this day, the murder remains unsolved.

The "Project" may focus on the split nature of the crime and the woman. Speculates Abed, "...and the world shall shudder at the slice of a knife... one body, two halves... one woman, two lives... ?"
