The 7th Annual Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Awards have begun. According to the Classic Horror Film Board (the fine folks who have put on this event for the last seven years), these awards are "by fans, for fans",  and celebrate "excellence in research, scholarship and creativity in keeping classic horror, science fiction and fantasy".

The events namesake, Rondo Hatton, was a man afflicted with acromegaly, a condition which deformed his face and extremities. His striking looks lead him to a brief but busy career in low-budget Hollywood horror movies in the 1940s. His career was ended in 1946, when he died of a heart attack brought on by the disease the disfigured him. The awards seek to honor his name and recognize the best in classic horror movies.

Voting ends on March 21.
