I am really curious about this film now. I wonder when it will get released over here.

I too saw this this weekend. We actually went to a 11am showing to beat the crowd and get the matinee price of $5!
This movie really does pay tribute to the 70's explotation films, it was an awesome experience. It really makes you feel what it would be like to see these types of film in the theatre in the 70's. [Spoiler-free] Planet Terrror: This was great! Typical Zombie movie plot, but it was well done with interesting characters. Very gory, but in a "Dead Alive" sort of way. The only downside to this movie is the "missing reel". It happens during what can only be assumed to be a major plot point because when the next reel starts it's admist the action climax of the movie and you have no idea how you got there. Still, this is a very fun movie and Cherry (Rose McGowan) really makes losing-a-leg-and-getting-it-replaced-with-a-machine-gun seem pretty cool. Death Proof: This was probably my favorite of the two and not quite as dark as Planet Terror. This was much more lighthearted. There is a missing reel here two but it doesn't take away from the story. This story is more dialogue driven, very Tarantino, but there some great chase scenes in this movie. It really pays homage to the car movies during the 70's (and several of these are mentioned). Kurt Russell was awesome, his character reminds me of Snake Pliskin from Escape from NY/LA movies. One of the girls from the later part of the movie is Zoe Bell (she plays herself) who's great; she actually is a stuntwoman and was Uma Thurman's stuntwoman for Kill Bill and Lucy Lawless' for the Xena Series (which is how she got started in New Zealand). There's actually a great documentary about her and Linda Carter's Wonder Woman stuntwomen called "Double Dare". Also, during the bar scene in the first half of the movie there are several girls from All-Girl Texas Rollerderby League who were in that reality show "Rollergirls" (awesome show, was only on one season but is on DVD now). Trailers: These were fun. "Machete" was very 70's, it was hysterical. There was also a WIP (women in prison) trailer in Planet Terror, which were popular in that era. "Werewolves of the SS" was paying homage to the movie "The SS Experiment", which was very similar minus the werewolves. Funny Trailer. Eli Roth's "Thanksgiving" was pretty dumb though, it was just so ridiculous. All in all, this is a great movie experience and it won't be the same on DVD. Go see it now while it's still in the theaters. This movie is really ment to be shown on the big screen. It's a fun way to spend the afternoon. |

I don't think they will split these movies into two because of a slow opening weekend. I think they will split them based on strictly business and they believe that they can sell two movies at 20 bucks each and 2 times the rentals. They are probably right. I liked both movies and now, I will have to buy them both. Fans won't like the split but I can see it make them a lot more money. It's too bad for the horror fans.

{{{Spoiler free}}}
Saw it last night and loved it. Good fun all the way through. Deathproof was my favorite because im kind of a redneck and a movie about cars, women, fast cars, chaos, and women is my kind of movie.Great dialogue is a major driving factor as to why its good also. As for planet terror it was also good lots of gore and a cool story. ill have to pick them up when they come out on dvd. |

They would never split them.....it would ruin the whole "grindhouse double feature" experience.
